South Elgin offers full testing services for the position of full-time Police Officer through National Testing Network (NTN).

Selection ‘Find Jobs’, then selection Law Enforcement Jobs and sign up for South Elgin Police Department

When you visit the www.nationaltestingnetwork.com website:

• Complete the NTN registration process and schedule your test.
• Review all information related to the South Elgin full-time Police Officer, including minimum requirements, salary, and benefits.
• Review detailed information about the testing process.
• Review the frequently asked questions and take an on-line practice test (if desired).

Upon completion of your scheduled exam, scores are automatically forwarded to South Elgin.  Candidates who attain a passing score on the entry level exam will be placed on South Elgin’s eligibility list.  South Elgin will contact candidates on the list and will invite them to participate in further stages of the selection process. 

Requirements:

• Possess a valid driver's license
• U.S. citizen and/or alien admitted for permanent residence or lawfully admitted for temporary residence and who produces evidence of intention to become a citizen of the United States
• 21 years of age by date of hire
• High school diploma or GED
• Possess no record of felony conviction or crime of moral turpitude
• Must be able to meet vision standard at time of appointment.  Must be correctable to 20/20 with both eyes open, including field of vision/depth perception/color vision within normal ranges.  Excellent Health
