Entry Level Police Officer Hiring Process

The Village of Woodridge (population 32,971) is seeking applicants to establish an eligibility list for full-time Police Officers. We are a diverse community seeking applicants who reflect our diversity. Hiring will begin immediately from this Eligibility List once it is posted.

On-line application and required documents must be received no later than 4:00 PM on Thursday, May 2, 2019.

The mandatory orientation and written examination will be administered on Saturday, June 1, 2019.

All applicants must meet the following minimum requirements established by the Village of Woodridge:

• $35.00 non-refundable application fee
• Must be at least 21 years of age and under the age of 35 as of May 2, 2019 unless exempt from age limitations as provided by statute. 
• Binocular vision corrective to 20/30.
• No felony convictions
• Valid Driver's License
• Must be a US Citizen.
• Residency within 30 miles of corporate limits of the Village within six months of hire. 
• Education Requirement: At time of filing an application for original appointment to the Police Department, applicant must have attained an associate's degree or its equivalent number of hours towards a bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university.
• Exceptions:
• Applicants who were engaged in active military service of the United States for at least two years and honorably discharged, and
• Applicants who are certified full-time police officers in the State of Illinois. 
• POWER Test Requirement: – Applicants must submit a current copy of POWER Test Card issued within the past year (as of 5/2/18) from NIPSTA or qualifying college.
• Preference Points: Awarded for military or naval service minimum of two years with discharge in good standing.
• Orientation & Written Examination (no exceptions) and must pass all phases of testing process.
