IMMEDIATE OPENINGS
The Sauk Village Fire Department is currently accepting applications from qualified individuals for Firefighter/EMT-Basic or Firefighter/Paramedic.
Additional Information:
- Applications available now through December 4, 2026.
- Applications must be returned to Resource Management Associates, 17730-A Oak Park Avenue, Tinley Park, IL, in a sealed envelope no later than 4:00 PM on December 4, 2026.
Minimum qualifications include:
- Must be under 35 years of age when taking the examination, unless exempt under 65 ILCS 5/10-2.1-6.3 because of qualifying previous firefighter service or qualifying military service; applicant must be at least 21 years of age at the time of employment.
- Must meet all applicable federal and State requirements for lawful employment.
- High school graduate (or equivalent)
- At the time of conditional offer, must possess a valid CPAT with ladder climb issued within the preceding 6 months.
- Must possess a valid driver's license, maintain a good driving record, and be able to obtain the required Class B non-CDL license within 3 months of employment.
- Must be Illinois-licensed or nationally certified as an EMT-Basic at time of hire. Paramedics must meet applicable Region 7 EMS requirements at time of hire. Must possess Illinois Office of the State Fire Marshal Basic Operations Firefighter/Firefighter II certification at time of hire.
- Paramedic licensure is preferred. Any permitted extension for obtaining paramedic licensure is subject to applicable law, the Rules and Regulations of the Board of Fire and Police Commissioners, and the discretion of the Board and Fire Chief.
- Must meet the criminal-history and character requirements applicable to firefighter appointment under Illinois law and the Rules and Regulations of the Board of Fire and Police Commissioners.
- Must be able to perform the essential functions of the position, with or without reasonable accommodation, and satisfy all lawful medical and psychological requirements for appointment.
All qualified applicants will be required to:
- Pass a written examination
- Pass an oral interview
- Successfully complete a thorough background investigation
- After a conditional offer, successfully complete all required medical/physical, drug screening, psychological, and other lawful pre-employment evaluations
