The City of Wheaton Police Department is accepting applications for Police Officer. Join a professional, community-focused department serving approximately 54,000 residents in DuPage County.

Minimum Requirements:

• Be at least 20 and under 35 years of age at the application deadline, unless exempt by state statute
• Be legally authorized to work in the United States
• Possess a bachelor’s degree, or qualify for an applicable educational waiver
• Applicants who do not currently possess a bachelor’s degree must commit to obtaining a bachelor’s degree within 24 months of hire and complete an educational waiver request as part of the employment application.
• The education requirement is waived for service members who have completed 36 months of honorable active-duty service.
• Possess a valid driver’s license
• Have corrected vision of 20/20
• Be able to pass the POWER Test at the time of hire
• Provide a DD-214, if applicable

• Select Find Jobs
• Select Law Enforcement from the drop-down menu
• Filter by Preferred State (Illinois), and select City of Wheaton 

Step 2: City of Wheaton Application & Document Submission

Applicants who achieve a passing score on the NTN examination will receive direct communication from the City of Wheaton inviting them to complete the Entry-Level Police Officer Application and submit all required supporting documentation through a secure Microsoft SharePoint site. All application materials and supporting documents must be submitted no later than Friday, November 20, 2026, at 11:59 PM.

Invitations will be sent each Tuesday to applicants who have achieved a passing score.

• Copy of a valid driver's license
• Proof of U.S. citizenship or authorization to work in the United States, as applicable, including one of the following:
• U.S. county or state-issued birth certificate
• Valid U.S. passport
• Naturalization papers
• Valid Permanent Resident Card
• Employment Authorization Document (EAD) / Work Authorization Card
• College transcripts reflecting completion of a bachelor's degree
• Preference Point Claim Form
• Supporting documentation as outlined on the Preference Point Claim Form (DD-214)
