The City of Park Ridge is seeking a detail-oriented and customer-focused Records Technician to join our Police Department team.

This position plays a critical role in supporting department operations by maintaining police records, processing Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) requests, and providing exceptional customer service to residents, law enforcement agencies, and City staff. The ideal candidate is organized, dependable, and committed to handling sensitive information with professionalism and accuracy.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Process Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) requests, including body-worn camera footage.
  • Provide police reports, record checks, and other authorized records in compliance with applicable laws.
  • Maintain accurate, secure, and confidential police records and digital files.
  • Review and process police reports, case information, and state reporting requirements.
  • Prepare records for court proceedings and process expungements and sealings.
  • Respond to records requests and provide courteous customer service to residents, law enforcement agencies, and City staff.
  • Perform a variety of administrative and records management duties in support of Police Department operations. 

Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Minimum of two (2) years of administrative support experience.
  • Previous public safety or law enforcement experience preferred.
  • LEADS certification required upon hire (training provided).
  • Certified FOIA Officer designation required within six (6) months of employment.
  • Strong organizational, communication, and customer service skills with the ability to maintain confidentiality.
