August 3 - September 18, 2026: Application Period
Application and written test begins (Once candidate successfully passes the written test, they will be emailed a link to the Village of Palatine Police Officer Employment Application).

September 22, 2026: Police Officer Employment Application and Required Documents Due
Employment application and required documents are required to be submitted by 12:00 PM on September 22, 2026. All required documents above must be successfully completed and turned in by this date and time.
September 23-25, 2026: Staff Interview
Qualified candidates who successfully pass the written test and submit the application with required documents will be invited by the Palatine Police Department to participate in the Staff Interview. Those who do not qualify will also be notified.
September 30 – October 1, 2026: Fire and Police Commission Interviews
Oral Interviews will be conducted in-person at the Palatine Police Department on these dates. Times will be assigned in alphabetical order after successfully passing the Staff Interview.
October 2, 2026 (October 3 will be used as an alternate date, if necessary): Physical Ability Test
The in-person POWER test is separate from the POWER test card. You must submit a copy of your POWER test card with your application. Those qualified candidates who have been invited to continue in the testing process will be required to attend the Physical Ability Test. This will be an in-person test held during early-morning hours at the Palatine Police Department.
