Position Details

The Board of Fire and Police Commissioners of the City of Countryside are now accepting applications to create a two year eligibility list for the position of Police Officer.

Countryside has no residency requirement.

The City of Countryside Police Department serves a residential population of just over 6,000 residents and a large retail oriented business community in the southwest suburbs of Chicago. At full staffing, the department has 24 sworn police officers that work 12 hour shifts. The City of Countryside strongly supports the police department, heavily investing in training and equipping officers while they work out of a state of the art facility.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:

• Age Requirements:  At least 21 years of age and under 35 years of age on the date of filing his or her application, unless otherwise exempt by statute.
• Citizenship:  Must be a U.S. Citizen.
• Driver’s License:  Must have a valid Driver’s License.
• Education:  Must have 60 hours accredited College/University courses. Education will be waived for candidates who have 2 years U.S. military service with an honorable discharge.
• Character:  No felony convictions and be of good moral character.
• POWER Test Card: Must have a current and valid POWER Test Card dated within 12 months prior to application deadline (cards considered valid only issued 6/15/2025 - 6/15/2026).
