  Salary negotiable depending on experience and qualifications

  *Contract negotiations are ongoing. The current contract expired at the end of 2025.*

JOB SUMMARY: 

The Police Officer is responsible for safeguarding lives and property through the enforcement of laws and local ordinances, with the goal of maintaining peace and order within the Village of Carpentersville. Officers are entrusted with significant discretion in responding to both emergency and non-emergency situations, engaging in proactive community problem-solving efforts, and coordinating appropriate police actions across a wide range of circumstances.

The Carpentersville Police Department is made up of several sub-divisions, including:

• Patrol
• Detectives
• Special Operations
• K9
• Evidence
• Police Records
• Social Services

REQUIREMENTS:

• Police Officers must:
• Have a high school diploma or equivalent
• Have a valid driver's license
• Be at least 21 years of age
• Be legally authorized to work in the United States
• Lateral applicants must be previously employed full-time sworn officers who are currently certified by the Illinois Law Enforcement Training and Standards Board (ILETSB), or certified in another state with credentials recognized by Illinois. Applicants holding part-time certification through ILETSB may be considered for hire on the condition that they successfully complete the required training to obtain full-time ILETSB certification.
• Candidates are required to pass an extensive background check.
• The candidate must demonstrate sound judgment, along with a strong commitment to honesty and integrity.
