Position Details

The Village of Stone Park is seeking qualified candidates for Auxiliary Police Officer.

The Auxiliary Officer position represents an excellent opportunity for individuals who aspire to pursue a career in law enforcement. This role offers valuable practical experience, comprehensive training, and direct exposure to police operations, enabling participants to develop the essential skills and professional foundation required for a sworn police officer. It serves as a meaningful pathway for those dedicated to public service and committed to advancing their future in policing.

Job Summary:

This is a non-sworn position.

Employees are required to wear an approved uniform and, upon certification, carry a handgun. They must work hours suited to their assignment and complete training relevant to their responsibilities.

Duties include:

• traffic control
• parking enforcement
• special event support
• front desk services 

Auxiliary Officers must be available to work at least 24 hours per calendar month, including a minimum of two weekend shifts.

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

Must be able to:

• Read and write English.
• Have good communication skills.
• Work without direct supervision.
• Deal firmly and courteously with the public.
• Analyze situations quickly and objectively and determine the proper course of action.
• Develop interpersonal communications
• Develop and maintain investigative techniques and firearms proficiency 

Qualified Requirements:

• Good oral and written communication
• Must be at least 21years of age
• Possess a High School diploma 
• Possess a valid State of Illinois Driver’s License
• Possess No prior Felony convictions
• Any individual who has served in the U.S. Military must have been honorable discharged
• Must possess a FOID
