Position Details

The Antioch Department is currently hiring for the position of Police Officer!

Candidates are required to complete National Testing Network's Frontline National exam, Personal History Questionnaire (PHQ) and Public Safety Self-Assessment (PSSA) by Friday, May 15th, 2026, by 4:00 PM to be considered for the position.

THE PERSONAL HISTORY QUESTIONNAIRE (PHQ) IS CONSIDERED YOUR APPLICATION FOR THIS POSITION.  AS SUCH, IT MUST BE COMPLETED IN ORDER FOR YOU TO BE CONSIDERED AS AN APPLICANT FOR THIS POSITION.  YOU MUST COMPLETE THE PHQ IN ITS ENTIRETY AND SUBMIT IT PRIOR TO Friday, May 15, 2026, at 4:00 PM, DEADLINE, OR YOU WILL NOT PROGRESS TO THE NEXT STEP IN THE HIRING PROCESS.  PARTIALLY COMPLETED PHQ WILL NOT BE CONSIDERED.

Hiring Process:

Each phase of the process is pass/fail and required to proceed to the next.

  • Completion of Personal History Questionnaire (PHQ) and submit required documents no later than Friday, May 15, 2026, by 4:00 PM.
  • Completion of National Testing Network Exam (www.nationaltestingnetwork.com) by May 15, 2026. Candidates may take the test virtually or in-person at an NTN testing center.   • Establish a preliminary list based on score of initial test
  • Oral Interview with Police and Fire Commission – eligible applicants will be contacted with specific date / time information
  • Staff Interview / Ride-Along
  • Background Investigation 
  • Post-offer examinations / screenings include but are not limited to:
    • psychological evaluation
    • polygraph examination
    • physical examination/drug screen 

Completion of the National Testing Network Exam and Personal History Questionnaire (PHQ) is not a guarantee of eligibility to continue in the testing process. Candidates may be disqualified after completion of the test or submission of (PHQ) for reasons including but not limited to:

  • Failure to complete testing / (PHQ) submission by the required deadline
  • Not meeting minimum position qualifications
  • Not meeting minimum passing standards for the examination
  • Missing or incomplete documents
  • Or other statutory disqualifying factors related to Police Officer candidacy or employment 

Illinois Police Academy Entrance:

All entry-level applicants must meet all the required qualifications, mandated by the Illinois Law Enforcement Training and Standards Board (ILETSB), in order to participate in the academy training, including; successfully passing the Police Officer Wellness Evaluation Report (POWER) Test.

Duties and Responsibilities Include:

  • Full-service Municipal Policing
  • Enforcement of State and Local Laws
  • Prepare written reports on assigned tasks and attend court, and testify when necessary
  • Community Policing, assist and render aid to citizens, conduct building checks, and investigate suspicious persons, vehicles, noises, etc.
  • Uniform patrol, traffic control, motor vehicle assists, and traffic crash investigations

Department Overview:

The Antioch Police Department is authorized for 32 sworn Officers, plus support staff. The Antioch Police Department participates in ILEAS, NIPAS, Lake County Major Crimes Task Force, Lake County Metropolitan Enforcement Group (MEG) and Lake County Major Crash Assistance Team (MCAT).

Village Information:

The Village of Antioch (population 14,430) is a middle-class community consisting of approximately nine square miles located halfway between Chicago and Milwaukee.

  • Age: Between the age of 21 and 35 at the time of appointment, unless otherwise exempt.
  • Citizenship Required: Yes
  • High School Grad/GED: Yes
  • Valid ILLINOIS Driver's License: Yes – Illinois Class D, or other state equivalent
  • Ability to Read/Speak English: Yes
  • College/Military: Preference points
  • POWER Test Card: Candidate must have valid POWER test card that is still valid within 12 months, before Commission interview
  • Academy Certification: Must successfully complete academy training assigned after employment
  • Necessary Certifications: High School Diploma/GED
