Position Details
Position Overview:
The Overnight Police Records Clerk assists in processing, maintaining, and disseminating police reports, citations, and electronic communications in accordance with Federal laws, Illinois State statutes, and local ordinances. This position is designated specifically as an overnight role and provides service to the public by assisting with complaints, resolving problems, and providing essential information.

Essential Duties:
- Maintain the Municipal Systems, Inc. database and oversee Administrative Adjudication Hearings.
- Monitor LEADS messages and maintain the police warrant file.
- Process FOIA requests and criminal history inquiries.
- Process TechShare and evidence requests and fulfill court-ordered data releases.
- Enter and maintain national and local law enforcement database records.
- Answer incoming non-emergency calls and monitor video systems.
- Operate software and office equipment for public safety data processing.
- Review reports, tickets, and bonds for accuracy.
- Maintain confidentiality of all work information.
- Assist the Real-Time Crime Center and obtain a Part-107 drone license.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Communicate effectively in English and follow complex instructions.
- Demonstrate high integrity and maintain confidentiality.
- Knowledge of Records Section functions, laws, codes, and office procedures.
- Operate law enforcement databases and Microsoft Office programs.
- Perform light physical activity (kneeling, lifting, pushing, pulling).
- Recognize differences in colors, shapes, and sounds; sustain visual focus.
Key Competencies:
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Experience with FOIA and municipal procedures.
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment.
- Reliable attendance and punctuality.
Work Environment:
- Position requires repetitive computer use, interaction with the public, occasional exposure to irate individuals, and light physical effort with minimal risk of injury.
