    Current top-out rate: $120,841

    The City is currently in negotiations with the FOP, and a new rate will be determined for May 1, 2026, which will apply to new hires.

Position Details

The City of Geneva is seeking motivated and community-oriented individuals to join our team as Police Officers.

Minimum Requirements:

  • U.S. citizenship or an individual who is not a citizen but is legally authorized to work in the United States under federal law; or is an individual against whom immigration action has been deferred by the U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services under the federal Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA) process; subject to all requirement and limitations to which other applicants are subject and the individual being authorized under federal law to obtain, carry, or purchase or otherwise possess a firearm.
  • Must be 21 years of age at time of application, and under 35 years of age at time of appointment, unless otherwise exempt by statute.
  • High school diploma or GED.
  • Have a valid POWER card issued no later than April 11, 2025.
  • Associate's degree; or a minimum of 60 credit hours, towards a bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university; or Military Service pursuant to 65 ILCS 5/10-2.1-6(h); or Have successfully completed the State of Illinois Basic Law Enforcement Training Course
  • Must pass the written examination and oral interview.
  • After a conditional job offer, must pass:
    • polygraph test
    • medical exam
    • psychological exam
    • drug screening
    • intensive background investigation 

Supplemental Information:

If hired and before completing probation, you must live within 25 miles of the corporate limits of the City of Geneva. Residency must be obtained before the completion of his/her probationary period.

Qualified candidates who successfully complete the pre-employment background check and are offered a position will attend the College of DuPage's Suburban Law Enforcement Academy's BA 26-03, which starts on Monday, Aug 24.
