The Norwood Park Fire Protection District is accepting applications for Firefighter/Paramedics to create an Eligibility Register for immediate hiring needs and future anticipated needs.

The mission of the Norwood Park Fire Protection District is to protect and serve their community and its residents with prompt and professional services while providing fire suppression, emergency medical services, fire prevention through public education, rescue and response to hazardous spills or leaks while ensuring the utmost safety of their members. They provide their citizens with a well equipped and highly trained emergency response team that is capable of alleviating the effects of disasters, tragedies and other threats to life and property.

There is a $25.00 non-refundable application fee.

Minimum eligibility requirements are:

• U.S. Citizen at time of application
• Valid Driver’s License
• Must have attained their 21st birthday by last date for filing applications (4/15/26); Must be under the age of 35 at the date of testing (4/30/26) unless otherwise exempt by State Statute 70 ILCS 705 which provides, in part, that the age limitation does not apply to any person previously employed as a full-time firefighter in a regularly constituted fire department of any municipality or fire protection district located in Illinois.  
• High School Diploma or equivalent.
• No felony or disqualifying misdemeanor convictions
• CPAT with Ladder Climb at time of conditional offer of employment
• Possess a valid Illinois or Nationally Registered EMT-P license.  Applicants who are currently enrolled in a State of Illinois, IDPH-approved paramedic program at the time of application shall be allowed to complete the testing process
• Must reside within the State of Illinois
• Tattoos/Piercings:  no face piercings or face or neck tattoos
• Must be of sound mental and physical health and meet all established standards
• Must be able to pass a written test, medical examination, drug testing, polygraph examination, background investigation, psychological examination, and oral interviews
