The written test will be given on Saturday, May 2, 2026 at:

Alsip Village Hall

Alsip, IL

Registration will begin at 8:00 AM.

There will be a mandatory brief orientation given at 8:30 AM followed immediately by the written exam.

Minimum Eligibility Requirements:

• U.S. Citizen or Legal Permanent Resident authorized to work In the U.S. 
• Valid Driver’s License 
• Must have reached 20th birthday by application deadline.
• Must be under 35 years of age at application deadline unless exempt under 65 ILCS 5/10-2.1
• High School Diploma or equivalent
• Fluent English language skills
• No felony convictions with good moral character per 65 ILCS 5/10-2.1-6
• Illinois residence required within 6 months of probation completion.
• Must be a certified Paramedic (EMT-P) licensed to practice in Illinois or an Emergency Medical Technician (EMT-B) currently enrolled in a certified paramedic class.
• Must be certified by State of Illinois Office of the Fire Marshal for Firefighter II or Basic Operations Firefighter
• Must have a candidate physical ability test (CPAT) card with Ladder test issued between 4/15/25 and 4/15/26 from a certified testing agency.
• Must submit copies of documents showing eligibility requirements met.  More information provided in application. 
• Must successfully pass a written exam, oral interview, background investigation, Polygraph test, Psychological exam, and medical examination.
