The City of Park Ridge is seeking a dedicated and service-oriented Community Service Officer (CSO) to join our Police Department team. This position plays an important role in maintaining community safety and assisting both residents and City departments through parking and ordinance enforcement, traffic and animal control, and a variety of public safety support functions.

Key Responsibilities:

• Responds to non-emergency calls from the public and assists with walk-ins at the Police front desk.
• Enforces parking regulations and ordinances, issues citations, and appears at hearings as needed.
• Provides traffic control at public safety incidents.
• Investigates animal control complaints and transports or impounds animals as required.
• Supports evidence handling and property room duties, including transport to/from crime labs.
• Assists the public by providing information and directions in a courteous, professional manner.
• Opens locked vehicles that may present safety hazards.
• Conducts vehicle transports and assists with prisoner monitoring.
• Completes reports, processes records, and performs other related administrative tasks. 

Qualifications:

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Previous work experience in safety, security, or a related field preferred.
• Valid Illinois driver’s license.
• LEADS certification required upon hire (training provided). 

Physical and Work Environment:

• Medium duty work; must be able to exert up to 25 lbs. of force.
• Work involves operating vehicles and equipment in all weather conditions.
• May require use of specialized protective gear and involve exposure to traffic, noise, exhaust fumes, animals, and potential hazards.
• Position requires flexibility to work all shifts, including weekends, holidays, and occasional overtime.
