Position Details

APPLICATION PACKET

Applicant must meet the following requirements:

• Must be between 21 and under 35 years of age (unless already a police officer)
• Education: Bachelor’s Degree from accredited 4-year college (or qualify for an exemption as specified in the Application Packet
• Vision 20-40 both eyes corrected/uncorrected
• Possess a valid driver's license
• Have no tattoos below the wrist or above the neckline 

POLICE OFFICER APPLICATION TIMELINE:

January 5, 2026:

Application process and written exam begins. Applicants must register to take the written test by visiting the National Testing Network (NTN) website at www.nationaltestingnetwork.com.  Those who successfully pass the written exam will be emailed a link to the Village of Palatine Application.

February 6, 2026 at 12:00 PM (noon):

Written exam and Village of Palatine application and document submittal deadline.

February 18 – 19, 2026:

Staff interviews. Email notifications will be sent to candidates who successfully pass the written exam and submit all required documents, following the test and submission deadline.

February 25 – 26, 2026:

Oral interviews with the Board of Fire and Police Commission.

March 2, 2026:

Physical ability test. Those selected to participate in an in-person POWER test will be notified via email.

All polygraph, psychological and medical testing are scheduled to occur in March/April

Transcripts must be received before date of appointment. An electronic version of the transcripts can be submitted directly from the school to Kasia Cordell at kcordell@palatine.il.us.

If transcripts are submitted via US Mail they must be officially sent from the school, unopened and sent directly to the:
