• Starting: $28.40 - $30.96/hour

  Starting pay based on experience.

  • Evidence Technician
  • SSERT Team
  • Range Officer

  • DARE Officer 

  Work 10 shifts monthly. Shifts are 6 hours.

  • 1 Three Season Uniform Jacket
  • Level IIIA Ballistic Vest

Position Details

The City of Hometown, Illinois is currently accepting applications from qualified individuals for the position of part-time Police Officer.

The applicant will perform duties to include but not limited to:

• Enforcing traffic, criminal laws and local ordinances
• Provide both emergency and non-emergency response/services
• Write Police reports/issue citations when necessary
• Attend monthly court
• Attend 5 in-service training and 2-4 range days annually. Training dates oriented to match required Illinois mandates. Based on weapons carried and specialty duties. 

Minimum qualifications include:

• 21 years of age
• U.S. Citizen
• High school graduate (or equivalent)
• Valid driver's license and satisfactory driving record
• Valid FOID card
• Good moral character
• Good mental and physical condition
• No felony or misdemeanor convictions
• Willingness to work weekends and holidays 

To Apply:

• Must meet minimum qualifications above.
• Be a graduate of one of either the full-time or part-time sworn officer Illinois training programs and be State of Illinois certified. 

All qualified applications will be required to:

• Pass a detailed hiring background investigation
• Pass an oral interview
• Pass a personal credit check
• Pass a pre-employment drug screening
• Complete a Reimbursement Agreement for costs incurred by the City of Hometown for the applicant, should the applicant voluntarily leave the police department within the first two years of employment.
