Position Details

The Bensenville Fire Protection District #2 is currently seeking qualified individuals for the position of permanent Full-time and Part-time Firefighter/Paramedic.

Firefighter/Paramedics hired are assured of at least 10/24-hour duty shifts!!!

Candidates must:

• Be at least 21 years of age
• Have high school diploma or GED
• Be certified Firefighter II or Basic Operations Firefighter with the Illinois Office of the State Fire Marshall
• Be IDPH licensed EMT-P with ability to test into Loyola EMS system
• Have current CPAT and Ladder
• Have valid Illinois Driver's License
• Not have felony convictions

Job Description:

• Candidates will be responsible for district ambulances
• Candidates will be responsible for patient care and completing all necessary patient care report forms
• Candidates will perform interior structural firefighting operations
• Candidates will perform exterior structural firefighting operations
• Candidates will be required to become familiar with district vehicles, operations, and Loyola SOPs
• Work as part of the Districts Pub Education Program
• Candidates will report to the Battalion Chief while on duty
• Other duties as assigned

Benefits:

• Starting pay is $15.25 per hour with an annual salary increase in January of every year; January 2019 there will be a significant hourly pay increase
• Candidates will work at least ten 24-hour shifts, which will be filled by a shift bidding; If not able to work 24-hour shifts, 8 and 12-hours shifts are also available 
• Specialty certifications qualify for stipends after completion of 3 years of service
• Free Continuing Education Programs (IDPH and OSFM certification classes)
• 457B Retirement program
• Preference points awarded when testing for a commission firefighter/paramedic position
