COMMUNITY SERVICE OFFICER (CSO)
The Village of River Forest is accepting applications for the full-time position of Community Service Officer (CS0). The CSO is a uniformed, non-sworn member of the Police Department that reports to the Support Services Sergeant. The CSO interacts heavily with the public and performs police-related duties that do not require the services if a sworn officer such as traffic control, enforcement of local ordinances, investigation of private property traffic accidents, and responding to non-criminal service calls. This position requires an individual who communicates effectively, demonstrates a command of Village regulations, attention to detail, integrity, a dedication to providing outstanding customer service, sound independent judgment and the ability to work independently with minimal supervision in a team environment.
The position requires:
High School diploma or GED certificate
30 hours of coursework at an accredited College/University in police science, fire science or a public safety related field is preferred
Prior law enforcement, fire service and/or animal control experience is also preferred
Valid Illinois driver's license and Firearm Owner's Identification (FOID) card
The successful candidate must be able to pass a drug screen and background check.
This position typically works Monday through Friday, 8 a.m. to 4 :30 p.m.
Some overtime, after hours and weekend assignments may be required.
