Police Officer (Full-Time)

The Village of Fox River Grove is now accepting applications for entry level police officer candidates with an immediate need to hire and establish a new eligibility list for future hiring needs.

The Village of Fox River Grove is a retail, commercial and residential community located approximately 30 miles northwest of Chicago. The Fox River Grove Police Department serves a population of 4,854 residents living in McHenry and Lake County.

Minimum qualifications requirements include:

• Be at least 21 years of age at the time of application.
• No felony convictions
• Possess a valid driver’s license 
• U.S. citizenship
• Possess a valid Illinois FOID card at time of appointment
• High school diploma, GED certificate or high school proficiency statement.  An Associate’s Degree from an accredited college or university is preferred.
• Possession of a valid POWER Test ID card issued after 1/1/2019. To obtain a POWER Test ID Card visit www.NIPSTA.org/202/Power-test.

Hiring Process Schedule:

• Complete and submit all application materials (must meet all minimum qualification requirements)
• Attend and take the written examination at the Fox River Grove Municipal Center – Upper level (305 Illinois Street, Fox River Grove, IL 60021) on November 2, 2019 at 9:00 AM.  Testing is mandatory and a passing score of 70% or greater is required.
• Complete an oral interview at a date and time yet to be determined.

Any conditional offers of employment are subject to the following professional examinations in order to be considered for appointment:

• Background investigation
• Polygraph examination
• Psychological examination
• Medical examination
