Salary:

• Starting: $64,937.60 - $87,380.80

  The starting rate is dependent on experience and qualifications, but in most cases is no higher than the midpoint of the range.

Position Details

Public Information Coordinator

The City of Aurora is seeking qualified applicants for the position of Public Information Coordinator for the City of Aurora’s public safety agencies.

Under the direction of the Public Safety Media Manager, the Public Information Coordinator assists in developing and implementing communication strategies and strengthen the social media efforts for the Aurora Police Department, Aurora Fire Department, in conjunction with the Mayor’s Office and the City’s Communication and Marketing Department. Responsible for developing strategies to improve public engagement through digital platforms and community events. 

This is a full-time, executive position. 

Duties of this position may include but are not limited to:

• Crafting written communication, capturing content, videos, and photos to promote public safety efforts and enhance public awareness
• Develop and manage engaging content across multiple social media platforms to promote public safety initiatives and connect with the community
• Assist in drafting press releases, media advisories, and other communication materials
• Assist in managing public safety media inquiries and support responses to maintain a positive public image
• Assist in organizing public safety events and attend City events
• Monitor and analyze data of performance through social media metrics and media coverage and make recommendations for improvement
• Assist the Public Safety Media Manager to craft clear, concise messaging during emergencies, ensuring timely and accurate information dissemination
• Assist in training department personnel on effective social media use and public communication strategies to enhance our overall outreach efforts
• Perform other duties as assigned
