Salary:

  Hourly Pay Range: $39.14- $58.86/hour as of 9/1/2024 (Contract Expires 8/31/26)

  Annual Equivalent: $81,411.20 - $122,428.80

Position Details

The Village of Bloomingdale is accepting applications for Entry-Level Police Officers.

Completed applications and forms must be received by the Bloomingdale Fire and Police Commission either by email or at the above address by 4:00 PM on Friday, May 2, 2025.

Applications will not be mailed to applicants. 

Applicants must:

1. Be a U.S. citizen.
2. Be twenty-one (21) years of age or more at the time of application.
3. Have a High School Diploma (or its equivalent).
4. Possess a valid Illinois Driver's License.
5. Be of good moral character and be able to perform all the duties and tasks assigned to a Bloomingdale Police Officer.
6. Not have been convicted of any felony or misdemeanor involving moral turpitude.
7. Be free from the use of illegal drugs. 

Note: If you are not 21 years of age, you must be at least 20 years of age and have successfully completed two (2) years of law enforcement studies at an accredited college or university in order to be eligible to take the initial examination for Patrol Office. Any applicant approved under this provision of the Act shall not have the power of arrest or be permitted to carry firearms until they reach the age of 21 years.

Applicants must pass:

• written exams
• physical agility test
• polygraph examination
• drug screening test
• oral interview
• comprehensive background investigation

The applicant must also meet the criteria established by Illinois Statutes and the Bloomingdale Board of Fire and Police Commissioners. 

After receiving a conditional job offer, but prior to commencing employment, a candidate must successfully pass a medical examination and a psychological examination, all in compliance with the Americans with Disabilities Act.

Attendance at the Orientation & Test is mandatory:
