Firefighter Minimum Requirements:

• Ability to work lawfully in the United States
• No felony convictions
• Must be 21 years of age, and under 35 years of age at time of application, or as otherwise exempt by statute
• High school diploma (or its equivalent)
• Valid driver’s license
• MUST be a licensed/certified IDPH Paramedic (EMT-P) or National Paramedic at time of conditional offer of employment
• Individuals not currently in possession of their paramedic license may apply and participate in the testing process if they are currently enrolled in a paramedic program or are currently applying to a paramedic program.
• Illinois Firefighter II or Basic Operations Firefighter Certificate issued by the Office of the State Fire Marshal (OSFM)
• Individuals not currently in possession of this certification may apply if they are currently in a fire academy or are currently applying to one.
• Must provide proof of successful completion of the Candidate Physical Ability Test (CPAT) with Ladder Climb Certification conducted by a licensed agency within 12 months immediately prior to written exam date (4/12/2024 – 4/12/2025) and at time of conditional offer of employment

Candidates must attend the mandatory orientation and written examination on:

Saturday, April 12, 2025

Additional details will be provided to eligible candidates approximately one week before the scheduled exam.
