Community Service Officer

Qualifications:

• High school diploma or equivalent
• Two years of previous customer service experience and supplemental education in criminal justice preferred
• Previous work in law enforcement/public safety is preferred
• Or equivalent combination of education, training, and experience that provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform the essential and additional job functions
• Ability to operate motor vehicles reasonably and safely under routine and emergency conditions
• Must possess a valid Illinois driver's license with a satisfactory driving record
• Must possess a Fire Owner's Identification Card or ability to obtain one within six months of hire
• Candidates must possess attention to detail and the proven ability to multi-task
• The ability to work independently and be a self-starter, often times under minimal supervision
• Must demonstrate excellent verbal and written communication skills, including the ability to convey empathy and understanding under various conditions, and demonstrate the ability to effectively manage time, solve problems, and exercise good judgment

Supplemental Information:

Hours:

Forty (40) hours per week.

November - April: Monday-Friday from 8:00 AM until 4:30 PM

May - October: Tuesday-Saturday 8:00 AM - 4:30 PM

Required hours of work vary outside of regular business hours, which may include varying hours, days, and shifts for special program events.
