Position Details

Flexible hours: Certified Part-Time Police Officer

The Fox River Grove Police Department is seeking certified law enforcement professionals to serve as part-time police officers.

There are no minimum shifts required to work each month. Successful applicants could cover 8, 10 or 12-hour shifts per their availability. Special details and events are also available throughout the year.

The Village of Fox River Grove (population 4,702) is located in McHenry and Lake County, approximately thirty miles northwest of Chicago.

Interested candidates must meet all of the following minimum requirements:

Have been previously employed and certified as a full-time or part-time law enforcement officer within 12 months of application, either in the State of Illinois or in a state that the Illinois Law Enforcement Training and Standards Board will approve a transfer for certification
Be at least 21 years of age at the time of application
Possess a valid driver’s license
Possess a valid Illinois FOID card at time of appointment

Hiring Process:

All applications will be screened in order to confirm minimum qualifications are met. Qualified applications are kept on file and applicants may be selected for further consideration. Applicants selected for further consideration will be invited to an oral interview. Qualified applicants may be further considered for employment but are subject to the following professional examinations in order to be considered for appointment:

Background Investigation
Polygraph Examination
Psychological Examination
Medical Examination
