Position Details

The Gurnee Police Department is seeking a service-oriented individual to join its team as a Records Assistant.

This is a full time position responsible for maintaining records and files, entering computer data, and completing related reports.  Work tasks also include providing general clerical support within the Police Department.

Examples of primary duties and responsibilities include but are not limited to:

Minimum Requirements and Qualifications:

Minimum qualifications and requirements include:

• US citizen / legal work authorization
• Education and experience equivalent to a high school diploma
• At least one (1) year comparable office / administrative support / records management experience
• Ability to type minimum 30 WPM

Other desirable or strongly preferred qualifications include:

• Police records management experience
• Bilingual skills
• And/or current LEADS certification

Other qualifications/candidate characteristics include:

• Ability to effectively multi-task in a high activity work environment
• Excellent customer service skills
• Excellent oral and written communication skills
• Ability to work with confidential material and apply department standards for security and privacy
• Effective time management skills
• Ability to exercise good judgment
