Position Details

The Board of Fire Commissioners are now accepting applications for the position of Entry Level Firefighter/Paramedic.

Testing is being conducted for an immediate need to hire 3 Firefighter/Paramedics and  to establish an eligibility list for future hiring needs.

Bensenville Fire Protection has been providing Fire, Rescue, and Emergency Services for almost 130 years.  Our personnel take great pride in serving the citizens, businesses, and visitors to our district. The district is an all-hazards organization that provides fire, advanced life support emergency services, technical rescue (low and high angle), hazardous material, dive vehicle/machinery, trench, and swift water rescue.  We respond to an average of 4,000 calls for service annually.

You must meet the following minimum requirements:

• Citizenship:  Must be a U.S. Citizen or legally authorized to work in the U.S.
• Social Security:  Must have a valid Social Security Number and present a copy with your application verification documents.
• Driver’s License:  Must possess a valid Driver’s License upon time of hire.
• Age Requirement:  Applicants must have obtained their 21st birthday by the last date for filing applications (8/23/23). Applicants must be under the age of 35 years at the date of testing 9/9/2023 unless exempt by State Statute 70 ILCS 705/116.006 and 65 IL 5/10 – 2. 1-6 which provides, in part, that the age limitation does not apply to any person previously employed as a certified full-time firefighter in a regularly constituted fire department of any municipality or fire protection district located in Illinois.  Must be at least 21 at the time of employment.
• Education:  Must have proof of High School Diploma, GED Certificate or High School Proficiency Statement.
• Residence:  At this time there are no stated requirements for residency declared by the Bensenville Fire Protection District.
• Language: Must be able to comprehend the English Language, both spoken and written.
• Certifications:  MUST be certified as an EMT-P by the State of Illinois with ability to test into the good Samaritan EMS system at time of hire.
• CPAT Card:  A CPAT Card is not required to apply or take the written examination. CPAT Card will be required at time of conditional offer of employment.
