Position Details

The Grayslake, IL Police Department is accepting applications for lateral police officer, offering a competitive salary and benefits package for qualified individuals.

The Police Department currently employs 32 full-time police officers, 6 part-time officers and 2 community service officers that handle nearly 35,000 calls per year.  Grayslake Police currently serve the Village of Hainesville as part of a police service contract in effect since 2011.

Patrol officers work a twelve-hour shift with alternating weekends off.

To be eligible for lateral entry and become a part of our team, you must be:

• State of Illinois law enforcement officer certification required, or out of State equivalent that is eligible to be accepted by the ILETSB.
• High School diploma or GED
• Complete and submit all necessary paperwork
• Certified police officer for 2 years prior to appointment
