Position Details

Position of Police Officer

City of Hickory Hills

We are a Municipal Police Department located in the southwest suburbs of Chicago that serves the City of Hickory Hills, a city of approximately 14,000 people with a mix of residential, commercial, and light industrial areas set upon 3 square miles.

We have 28 sworn officers that have the opportunity to train in a variety of specialty roles, such as:

Detective
Task Force Officer
SWAT Officer
Traffic Officer/Accident Reconstructionist
Evidence Technician
Firearms instructor
Field Training Officer
D.A.R.E. Officer
Bicycle Officer

We work closely with our neighboring communities and belong to several Multi-Jurisdictional Task Forces such as:

South Suburban Major Crimes Task Force
Southwest Major Case Unit
Suburban Major Accident Reconstruction Team
5th District SWAT team

This allows our Officers additional opportunities for growth and training.

Monday through Friday

8:30 AM to 4:30 PM

All completed applications must be returned to the Clerk's Office no later than 4:00 PM on Wednesday, March 8, 2023 WITHOUT EXCEPTION.

Application fee is $30.00 when obtained, NON-REFUNDABLE.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Applicants shall be U.S. Citizen at least 21 years and under 35 years of age or otherwise qualified as provided by Section 10-2.1-6 of the Illinois Municipal Code (65 I.L.C.S. 5/10-2.1-6)
High School graduate or equivalent
Valid Driver's License
Must present a valid POWER CARD issued from a certified testing agency (i.e., NIPSTA, Joliet Jr. College or Triton College) dated no earlier than February, 2022 along with a valid Driver's License on the test date
Able to pass written & oral tests, background check plus fingerprint check, psychological, polygraph tests and medical examination
