Position Details

The Crete Township Fire Protection District is now accepting applications for the position of full-time Firefighter/Paramedic.

Testing is being conducted for an immediate need to hire three full-time Firefighter/Paramedics.

Crete Township Fire Protection District (CTFPD) was established in 1954. CTFPD is located in northeastern Will County in the state of Illinois. Crete is located 30 miles south of Chicago, Illinois. The district covers 30 square miles with just shy of 10,000 residents.

Crete Township Fire Protection District offers Emergency Medical Services, Fire Suppression, Hazardous Material emergencies, Fire Inspections, Fire Investigations and quarterly CPR classes. They support the residents out of three fire stations.

You must meet the following minimum requirements:

• Citizenship:  Must be a U.S. Citizen or authorized to work in the United States.
• Driver’s License:  Must possess a valid Driver’s License upon time of hire.
• Age Requirement:  Applicants must have attained their 21st Birthday at time of hire and must be under the age of 35 years of age on 3/11/23, unless otherwise exempt by the Illinois Fire Protection District Act.
• Education:  Must have proof of High School Diploma, GED Certificate or High School Proficiency Statement.
• Character:  Must have not been convicted of any felony or certain misdemeanors and be of good moral character. See 70ILCS 705/16.06(b).
• Residence:  There is no stated residency requirement.
• Certification: MUST be certified by the office of the Illinois State Fire Marshall (OSFM) as a Firefighter II or Basic Operations Firefighter at time of application, AND MUST be certified as an EMT-B by the State of Illinois at the time of application. Candidates must be certified EMT-P (Paramedic) by the State of Illinois at time of hire.
• CPAT Card: Not required to apply, but must possess a valid CPAT (Certified Physical Ability Test) from a certified testing agency, at time of hire.
