  • Range for the position: $57,204 - $77,226, with occasional opportunities for overtime

    Bonus:

    Starting bonus of $1,500 will be offered if the successful applicant commits to beginning employment with the Village by June 20, 2022 (subject to a signing bonus agreement).

The Village of Glencoe is seeking a detail-oriented person with a passion for public service for our next Records Clerk in the Public Safety Department!

What the job is:

Records Clerks are civilian employees in the Public Safety Department who support Public Safety Department operations by processing police and fire records, reports, warrants, files, citations, and crime and traffic reports. Records Clerks prepare records and files for court proceedings; enter data into CAD, records management and LEADS systems; prepare reports and provides customer service in person and over the phone. The successful candidate will have a strong attention to detail and sensitivity to the confidential nature of police and fire records.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Processes police and fire records, reports and materials (including reports, complaints, letters, memos, warrants, files, citations and crime and traffic reports)
  • Enters data into CAD, records management software and LEADs; operates and maintains these databases with a high level of accuracy
  • Assembles, codes, records and summarizes public safety records data
  • Prepares police case files for court proceedings
  • Sorts, files, copies and distributes crime reports, traffic reports, citations, petitions and other material to Public Safety Department personnel
  • Prepares information and reports for other police and fire agencies as needed
  • Provides customer service over the phone and in person 

Required Qualifications:

  • Education and Experience
    • High school diploma or general education degree
    • 1-3 years of related experience 

Functional Knowledge:

  • Knowledge of efficient record keeping procedures
  • Attention to detail and strong organizational skills; ability to maintain accurate records
  • Use of IT systems including radios, telephones, tablets, laptops and computers
  • Experience with New World CAD, New World Records Management and LEADS is a plus Interpersonal and Communication
  • Excellent customer service skills
  • Ability to follow oral and written instructions
  • Ability to work with a team
  • Maintain strong working relationship coworkers 

Physical Requirements and Work Environment:

  • Constant lifting and/or moving up to 10 pounds, occasionally lift and/or move up to 20 pounds
  • Frequent walking and standing (sometimes on uneven surfaces); talking and listening
  • Walking, grasping, lifting and carrying objects; reaching, operating hand controls and office equipment
  • Strong emphasis on workplace safety
