Applicants must meet the following requirements:

• U.S citizenship
• No felony convictions
• No domestic battery convictions
• Valid state-issued driver's license
• 18 years old for unarmed position and 21 years old for armed position
• FOID for Illinois residences working armed position 

Essential Functions:

1. Serves as a "good will ambassador" for the Zion Park District Park Ranger Department, by providing friendly, helpful customer service to the general public.
2. Enforce Park District codes/ordinances. Convey information and explain the violation, be understanding and courteous by listening to the other party, and use tact to defuse a situation.
3. Conduct special traffic and patrol detail, as requested.
4. Respond to and/or provide assistance to law enforcement on calls for service. The park ranger responds to calls for service which include parking enforcement, lock-outs, animal complaints, motorist assists, lost persons and article reports, and other non-criminal calls for service and reports.
5. Maintain cordial public relations with the residential and business communities, as well as other governmental entities, such as the fire department, township, library and school district in order to share valuable information, better resolve a problem and provide enhanced customer service to the general public.
6. Maintain the assigned department vehicle(s) and report any concerns to the immediate supervisor.
7. Performs other relevant duties as required by the Zion Park District Ranger Department.

Park Rangers may be trained and authorized to carry the following tools:

1. Firearm (For armed Rangers)
2. Handcuffs
3. OC (Pepper Spray)
4. Expandable Baton
5. TASER (X2)
6. NARCAN
7. AED
8. Med Kit
