All applicants must meet the following minimum requirements established by the City of Prospect Heights:
US Citizen
Valid Driver’s License
Not less than 21 years of age at time of employment
Vision Correctable to 20/20 in both eyes
Able to read/write the English language
Pass medical exam including drug screening
Possesses substantially equivalent skills and abilities as a City Prospect Heights Police Officer who has completed the probationary period, as determined by the City
Taken and passed such examinations as the Commission deems necessary to determine fitness for duty as a Police Officer
Completed an in state full time Basic Law Enforcement Training Course or attend an out of state Basic Law Enforcement Training Course and receive a waiver from the ILETSB.
Be a certified police officer in good standing, having been certified by the Illinois Law Enforcement Training Standards Board under Section 8.1 of the Illinois Police Training Act (50 ILCS 705/8.1), and
Currently working as, a full-time police officer in good standings for an Illinois law enforcement agency; or
Has left his/her agency in good standing or retired.
