Position Details

The Willow Springs Police Department is currently accepting applications for the position of Part-time Police Officer and Part-Time Detective.

Job Description:

The Willow Springs Police Department is currently seeking dedicated and dependable individuals to serve as a Part-time Police Officer or Part-time Detective in serving and keeping our community safe.

These part-time positions are responsible for the performance of professional and responsible police services in the prevention, detection, and investigation of crimes while actively promoting and directing citizen involvement in these efforts.

Maintaining all State of Illinois mandated training requirements will be unequivocally required to perform and remain in the position as a Part-time police officer or Detective.

Part-time police officers are required and must be able to work a variety of flexible shifts, hours, weekends, and holidays. Candidates must be available to work a minimum of forty (40) hours per month, in accordance with department policy.  

Job Qualifications:

• Applicants will only be considered who currently hold a valid State Certification of Law Enforcement Officer through the Illinois Law Enforcement Training and Standards Board, in accordance with ILCS 50/705.
• Village of Willow Springs Police Commission Rules and Regulations require qualified applicants to possess a valid Illinois driver's license, along with being a High School graduate, or GED, while having at least thirty (30) minimum college educational credits in the field of law enforcement or criminal justice from an accredited college or university -- employment will also be considered based on law enforcement years of experience of three (3) or more years.
• Every applicant must be of good moral character, of temperate habits, of sound heath and must be physically able to perform the duties of the position of Police Officer.
• Active law enforcement service within the past three (3) years at the time of application is highly preferred.
