Salary:

• Starting: $86,427.20 (FOP CBA step 3 and certified police officer stipend)

  Annual step increases until the top step of contractual salary schedule is reached (FOP CBA step 6 - currently $105,022.40)

Position Details

The Lake Zurich Police Department, an accredited Lake County, Illinois agency, is seeking qualified, experienced police officers for immediate lateral entry.

Minimum Requirements and Qualifications:

• Must have been previously employed as a full-time sworn officer of a regular police department in any municipal, county, university, or state law enforcement agency within the State of Illinois, provided they are certified by the Illinois Law Enforcement Training and Standards Board and have been with their respective law enforcement agency within the state for at least two (2) years.
• Must be of good moral character, sound health, and must be able to perform the essential job functions
• Must be a U.S. citizen or naturalized citizen
• Must be at least 21 years old
• Must possess a valid U.S. driver's license
• Must have proof of high school diploma or GED
• Police officers must live within 35 miles of the Lake Zurich police station (200 Mohawk Trail, Lake Zurich, Illinois).
• Lake Zurich employees hired after January 1, 2022 must show proof of being fully vaccinated against COVID-19. 

Selection Process (each phase is pass/fail):

• Prescreening of application documents o Candidates who are eligible for veteran's or educational/experience preference points may submit a claim for these points with their application.
• Interview with police department staff
• Background investigation, ride along, and polygraph examination
• When positions become available, oral examinations will be conducted by the Board of Fire and Police Commissioners.
• Post offer examinations including, but not limited to psychological assessment, medical examination, and drug screening
