Position Details

City of Taylorville

Entry Level Police Officers

The City of Taylorville is looking for entry level Police Officers.

Minimum Requirements:

• Must be a legal resident of the United States.
• Must be 21 years of age and less than 35 years of age at time of application unless exempt by State Statute 65 IL 5/10-2.1-6 which provides in part, that the age limitation does not apply to any person previously employed as a full-time police officer.
• Education – High School Diploma or equivalent.
• Valid IL Driver's License, or the ability to obtain within 90 days of hire (if out of state).
• Must have no felony convictions and be of good moral character as described in State Statue 65IL 5/10-2.1.
• Must agree to comply with all requirements of the position and have the ability to pass all examinations and training requirements of the position, including but not limited to: background investigation, psychological, polygraph and medical testing.
• Must be willing to work all hours including nights, weekend and holidays.

Selection Process:

Upon completion of application and testing deadline, you will be notified of a date for a mandatory orientation meeting followed by the power test.

The next step is an oral interview by the police and fire
