Position Details

The Village of Dwight, resident population of approximately 4,200, seeks EMS leaders as applicants to serve as this communities next EMS Director.

Dwight is a vibrant community with 4 square miles of beautiful neighborhoods, parks, and downtown. Dwight is located approximately 70 miles south of Chicago, just off interstate 55 and the nationally recognized historic Rt 66. Dwight has ready access to a brand-new Amtrak Station. Dwight is a small vibrant community offering many opportunities to its residents. Dwight enjoys a K-12 dual school district that is second to none. Dwight has an exceptional low crime rate, with the heart of a big city and the charm of a small town. Dwight is a premiere community in which to live, work and play.

In addition to the EMS Director, The Dwight EMS is staffed full time with 6 Paramedics, 4 basic EMT-B and some part-time fill-ins. The Dwight EMS 2021 budget is $778,505.

Appointed by and reporting to the Village Administrator, the EMS Director should be a proven leader with impeccable ethics and integrity. 

Successful candidates must:

• Possess IDPH active Paramedic License
• Possess IDPH LEAD Instructor
• Possess American Heart Association CPR Instructor preferred
• Possess High school Diploma (Higher Education Preferred)
• Be able to test into the Morris EMS system
• Possess Illinois class D drivers license 

Experience needed:

• 10 years in 911 Emergency Medical Service or equivalent
• Ability to write/apply for grants
• Ability to be a great leader
• Must be a team player
• Minimum of 5 years of supervisory experienced preferred, but not required
