Position Details

The Community Service Officer performs a variety of police support activities including:

• Animal control
• Village vehicle code enforcement
• Motorist assistance
• Traffic direction
• Communication with the court system 

The employee will also assist sworn department members in the prisoner booking and release process.

Community Service Officers must also prepare written reports and maintain files and records. 

The position requires an average of up to 28 hours per week, which includes a rotating weekend shift.

This is a union position covered by Metropolitan Alliance of Police Chapter #390. 

Requirements:

The ideal candidate will:

• Be able to develop a working knowledge of Carpentersville street locations, geography, Village ordinances, and state statues
• Be comfortable working with large canines
• Be able to attend and satisfactorily complete basic Community Service Officer training

The position requires:

• A high school diploma or GED
• A valid Illinois driver's license
• Experience, training, and/or education in Law Enforcement is preferred.
• Bilingual in Spanish is highly desirable.
• The successful candidate must be able to pass an extensive background check.
