Salary:

• Firefighter/EMT (Part-time) Starting Pay: $18.32/hour (Emergency Medical Technician) $19.50 per hour (Paramedic)

  • Additional pay of $0.45/hour is given per the collective bargaining agreement for the following certifications (Firefighter III/Advanced Firefighter, Fire Apparatus Engineer, Haz-mat Technicians, and Fire Prevention Principals)
  • All classroom hours spent attending training will be paid along with EMS continued education, weekly drills, and provisional ride time 

  Firefighter/Paramedic (Full-time) Starting Pay: $61,928.25 annually (plus $5,250 Paramedic licensure pay)

  • Additional educational pay is given per the collective bargaining agreement for many specific certifications and Fire Science degrees up to $500 per year in total
  • Per the collective bargaining agreement, the Village will provide Longevity pay up to $1,500 per year for employees that work more than 10 years
  • Additionally, voluntary specialty positions receive $1,000 annual compensation

Firefighter/EMT (Part-Time) Job Opening

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS for Part-time Firefighter EMT & Paramedic:

• Education: minimum of a H.S. diploma or GED
• Age: Must be 21 years of age, or at least 20 years of age with 2 years of college course work in Fire Science or related field.
• Emergency Medical Technician: Must hold a license as an Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) or be enrolled in an EMT course. You must be a licensed EMT by the date the preliminary eligibility list is created.
• Valid CPAT card with ladder climb: Required on the date of a conditional job offer. The CPAT test cannot be more than 1 - year old.
• Valid Driver's License in good standing 

Firefighter/Paramedic (Full-Time) Job Opening

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS for Full-time Firefighter Paramedic:

• Education: minimum of H.S. diploma or GED
• Age: Must be 21 years of age and under the age of 35 by the date the preliminary eligibility list is created. For age limitation exceptions, please refer to the IL General Assembly compiled statute 65 ILCS 5/10-2.1-6.
• Paramedic Must hold a license as a paramedic by the date the preliminary eligibility list is created or be currently enrolled in a paramedic education program.
• Basic Operations Firefighter or Firefighter II Certification (Certifications from other States, IFSAC, DoD, and ProBoard Firefighting certifications will be accepted if they are transferable and eligible for reciprocity to Illinois.)
• Valid CPAT card with ladder climb: Required on the date of a conditional job offer. The CPAT test cannot be more than 1 - year old.
• Valid Driver's License in good standing 

SELECTION PROCESS:
