The Village of Sugar Grove Police Department is currently accepting lateral entry applications for the position of Police Officer.
The successful applicant will perform the duties of a Law Enforcement Officer.
The Village of Sugar Grove is a community of middle and upper-middle class residences covering approximately nine square miles with a 2021 census population estimate of 9,278 residents. The Village is located 50 miles southwest of Chicago, in Southern Kane County and a short distance from the City of Aurora and the City of Naperville, the two largest municipalities in the metropolitan area outside the City of Chicago.
The Police Department is comprised of 21 sworn police officers and two part-time civilian clerical staff.
Patrol shifts are eight hours with rotating days off. Each patrol officer will rotate days off for each day of the week to include weekends.
Lateral Entry Applications for Police Officer are currently being accepted on an ongoing basis and reviewed weekly.
Candidate must be employed as a full-time officer with an Illinois law enforcement agency and shall be employed for a minimum of two (2) years and must possess a valid Illinois Law Enforcement Officer certificate from the Illinois Law Enforcement Training and Standards board.
Candidate must be currently employed as a full-time officer with any municipal, county or state law enforcement agency, such lateral applicant shall have been so employed for a minimum of two (2) years prior to application and shall meet the Illinois Law Enforcement Training and Standards Board, Out of State Reciprocity requirements.
Lateral applicant candidates must complete all testing deemed necessary by the Sugar Grove Police Commission.
Arrest Record:
Lateral applicant must not have any felony convictions nor have been convicted of certain misdemeanor offenses.
