Position Details

Department Overview:

The Willowbrook Police Department is currently comprised of 27 full-time sworn officers and three full-time non-sworn civilian employees.  As a smaller agency we deploy our staff and resources in the best way possible to provide professional law enforcement services to our community.  We take pride in our partnerships with other law enforcement agencies such as Metropolitan Emergency Response and Investigations Team (MERIT), Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA), Illinois Police Law Enforcement Alarm System (ILEAS), and DuPage Metropolitan Enforcement Group (DuMEG).  These partnerships allow us to give the larger agency feel to our smaller department.  Positions within the Department include patrol, investigations, drug task force officer, evidence technician, Community Oriented Policing Unit, juvenile officer, field training officer, firearms instructor, defensive tactics instructor, and bicycle officer.

Job Requirements:

  • Age: 21 years of age to under 35 years of age at time of application and at such time as the initial eligibility list is posted (unless otherwise exempt by statute).
  • US Citizen: United States citizen, or an individual who is not a citizen but who is legally authorized to work in the United States under federal law or is an individual against whom immigration action has been deferred by the U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services under the federal Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA) process, subject to the individual being authorized under federal law to obtain, carry, or purchase or otherwise possess a firearm.
  • High School Grad/GED: Yes
  • Valid Driver’s License: Yes
  • Ability to Read/Speak English: Yes
  • Vision: Eyesight correctable to 20/20 in each eye, normal depth perception and no color blindness that would prevent an individual from performing the essential functions of the job.

(Part-time certification as a law enforcement officer does not meet this requirement.)
