Position Details

The Schaumburg Police Department is seeking a diverse pool of applicants for the position of Certified Police Officer.

Minimum Requirements and Qualifications:

• Must be a citizen of the United States.
• Must possess a valid driver’s license.
• Shall be a minimum of 21 years of age or maximum age of 35 years old.
• Must possess a valid FOID card or equivalent for out of state applicants.
• Must have a bachelor’s degree (in any field).
• A waiver of the bachelor’s degree may be considered for candidates meeting the following conditions:
• Has a high school diploma or GED.
• Is a Certified Police Officer with three (3) or more years of full-time law enforcement experience, or
• Has three (3) or more years of full-time military experience with an honorable discharge, or
• Has an associate’s degree in law enforcement and justice administration from Harper College

Selection Process:

• There is no guarantee of an interview or further consideration for candidates submitting an application. Inclusion in any certified or lateral entry hiring process shall be based upon the relative excellence of the candidate’s qualifications and the hiring needs of the Police department at the time of review.
• Candidates may be asked to participate in phases of the hiring process, but not limited to, a polygraph examination, oral interview with the Board of Fire and Police Commissioners, character and background investigation, credit check, psychological evaluation, medical examination and drug/alcohol screening. Candidates must receive a satisfactory evaluation on any screening or examination to proceed in the selection process.
