Position Details

Community Service Officer (CSO) duties include communications/dispatch and patrol of a public safety nature as representatives of the Harper College Police Department (HCPD).

Schedule Information:

Initial field training will be day, evening and midnight shifts. Once successful field training is completed, shift will be assigned based on the needs of the Department. (currently 11:00 PM -7:00 AM).

Hours Per Week:

40 hours Includes weekends and holidays.

Qualifications:

• Be at least 18 years of age
• High school diploma or equivalent
• Valid driver's license
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
• Ability to patrol on foot at all facilities
• Ability to pass a thorough background investigation
• Proven ability to work effectively and constructively with persons of diverse cultures, language groups, and abilities; demonstrate sensitivity to and ability to work with the diverse academic, socioeconomic, cultural, and ethnic backgrounds of community college students, faculty, and staff, including those with disabilities; establish and maintain effective working relationships with those contacted in the course of work
• Medical exam and drug testing 

Annual Proficiency Requirements:

• Shall maintain certification in LEADS – FULL ACCESS
• Shall maintain certification in AED, CPR and First Aid 

Desired Qualifications:

• Law enforcement or security experience
• Associate degree or higher
