  Part-time at 25 hours per week, hours to be assigned by the Chief of Police and will require day and some afternoon shift hours. Hours will be flexible to accommodate both the employee and the Village.

Position Details

Part-Time Civilian Digital Evidence Technician for the Police Department

Summary:

A Civilian Digital Evidence Technician assigned to the Investigations Section operates under the direct supervision of the Detective Sergeant.  The purpose of the positions in this classification is to provide for the security and control of seized, recovered, and evidentiary property as well as abandoned, lost, or found property in the custody of the agency.  In addition, perform a variety of specialized technical duties to include processing all forms of digital media, including Axon suite of media as it pertains to Body-worn and In-car camera videos.  This position also performs related clerical and customer service tasks.  

Qualifications:

The Civilian Digital Evidence Technician must:

• Have the ability to type 25 words per minute (corrected)
• Have the desire and ability to stay current with the latest information available on all required products
• Have the ability to obtain Freedom of Information Officer certification within thirty (30) days of employment
• Possess knowledge of evidence collection, processing, and preservation
• Have the ability to communicate effectively, orally and in writing 

Special Requirements:

The Civilian Digital Evidence Technician must:

• Be a citizen of the United States, either natural or naturalized
• Have a valid recognized State Driver’s License
• Have ability to pass a rigorous background check to include checks at the National Level, credit check
• Pass drug testing and pre-employment physicals 

Education and Experience: 

• High School diploma or General Education Degree (GED); or one-year related experience and/or training.
• Excellent communication and customer service skills required.
• Computer skills with experience in word processing and data entry, desirable.
• Requires exceptional attention to detail and confidentiality.
• Any combination of education and experience that provides equivalent knowledge, skills and abilities may be considered.
