This position is open to the public and all current city employees covered under the City's Collective Bargaining Agreement with AMERICAN FEDERATION OF STATE, COUNTY, AND MUNICIPAL EMPLOYEES (AFSCME) – BARGAINING UNIT 1, 3, 4 & 5.
Under general supervision, the class provides employee training and development services in a department with diverse training needs and performs related duties as required.

The City of Chicago offers Veterans Preference to both current active military personnel AND military personnel who have served in the Armed Forces of The United States and have received an honorable or general discharge. The preference granted under this section shall be in the form of preference in processing. Eligible candidates must have at least six months (180 days) of active duty documented.

The copy must include discharge status, which is found on the Member Copy A letter from the United States Veterans Administration on official stationery stating a minimum of 180 days of Active-Duty service and character of service. OR Active military personnel must attach a letter from their Commanding Officer on official stationery verifying a minimum of 180 days Active Duty, length of service, and must include character of the service status in the Armed Forces of the United States. This letter must also include a copy of the applicant's Military ID.
All employees of the City of Chicago must be actual residents of the City as outlined in 2-152-050 of the City of Chicago Municipal Code. Proof of residency will be required.
