Salary:

• Salary effective 1/1/2023: $82,950* - Step 2

  Step 3 after successful completion of Field Training Program and six months of service - $88,761

  Current Top Salary: $110,475

  The starting salary and benefits for a lateral hire applicant will be dependent on experience and years of service.

  • Employees are paid biweekly on Fridays.
  • Currently covered by MAP – contract in place through 2026, with 3% annual increases.
  • Patrol Division works 12-hour shifts, which are bid for on an annual basis.

Position Details

MULTIPLE VACANCIES

The Village is located just North of I-55 and First Avenue, a small residential Village with major industry / corporations and multiple quarries.

Requirements:

• Must have successfully completed the Illinois Basic Law Enforcement Academy and possess certification from the Illinois Law Enforcement Training and Standards Board or be qualified to take the Illinois Law Enforcement Training and Standards Board "Out of State Reciprocity" requirements to include: Mandatory Firearms Training Law for Illinois Police Equivalency Exam.
• Citizen or lawful permanent resident of the United States.
• Individuals must be at least 23 years old.
• Experience – at least 2 year's experience as a full-time, sworn certified law enforcement officer within the last 2 years preceding the date of application. Municipal experience preferred.
• Applicant must be in good standing in the police department in which the person serves, or laid off due to budgetary restraints.
• Must have no felony convictions and be of good moral character as described in State Statute 65 IL 5/10-2.1-6.
• Possess substantially equivalent skills and abilities of a Village of McCook Police Officer who has completed the probationary period, as determined by the Village.
• Must have a high school diploma or hold a G.E.D.
• Must be a U.S. citizen
• Possession of an Illinois Driver's License and the ability to obtain a Firearm/Weapon  

Selection Process:
