  Lateral applicants may be eligible for a signing bonus up to $4,000 depending on experience!

  Lateral Hiring Bonus Criteria:

  • Candidate must meet all qualification, pass through the hiring process, and receive a written offer of employment.
  • Bonuses are based on skills and experience level as follows:
  • Candidates with one year of experience (not including field training time) in a multi-jurisdiction emergency dispatch center - $1,500
  • Candidates with more than one year up to three years experience in a multi-jurisdiction emergency dispatch center - $3,000
  • Candidates with more than three years experience in a multi-jurisdiction emergency dispatch center - $4,000
  • Hiring bonus will be paid after successful completion of six months of service as follows:
  • 50% upon Hire
  • 50% after successful completion of six months
  • All hiring bonuses are subject to taxes under IRS and State guidelines

The Telecommunicator (T/C) is a civilian member of the Police Department engaged in the coordination and dispatch of emergency Police, Fire and Emergency Medical services provided by the City of McHenry received from Emergency Communications networks and devices including but not limited to E-911 telephone system, inter/intra-departmental voice radio interconnects and State/Federal criminal justice data systems. NERCOM handles on average 86,000 emergency service calls annually for 15 police and fire/rescue agencies.
