Police Officer

• U.S. citizenship or permanent resident  
• No felony convictions (Note: a misdemeanor or serious traffic offense may also disqualify applicants from further consideration)
• Valid state-issued driver's license
• Minimum of 20 years of age by the application deadline date (February 13, 2023); All applicants must turn 21 years of age by the time of appointment
• Must be UNDER 35 years of age, subject to the age exception provisions of 65 ILCS 5/10- 2.1-6(d)
• Be a high school graduate or possess a G.E.D. equivalent
• Possess a valid NIPSTA card - OR - equivalent criteria as per the State standard, issued within 12 months of the application deadline date (February 13, 2023); P.O.W.E.R. Test Cards issued by Triton College or Joliet Junior College will also be accepted
• Pay a $45.00 non-refundable application processing fee
• Applications must be submitted online no later than Monday, February 13, 2023 at 4:00 PM
• Attend a mandatory orientation and written exam testing on Wednesday, March 1, 2023 at 6:00 PM

A maximum of (5) preference points will be awarded as determined by the City of Braidwood for any one the following:

• Military  
• Education
• Residency in the City of Braidwood
