Position Details

The Sycamore Police Department receives tremendous support from our residents, the City Council, and the City Administration. Position Details:

• Must be 20 years of age at time of application and not have attained the age of 35 at the time of application;
• Must be 21 years of age at the time of appointment;
• Valid driver's license required;
• Must establish residency within 20 miles of 100 North Main, Sycamore within one (1) year of the conclusion of probation;
• Must be of excellent moral character and personal integrity;
• Any other rules and regulations as prescribed by the City of Sycamore Board of Police and Fire Commissioners. 

Certified Illinois Police Officers with at least 2 years of experience and who have been a full-time officer in the last 12 months can apply directly to the City of Sycamore and are not required to take the written examination.

For Entry Level Applicants:

1. Schedule yourself to take the law enforcement Frontline National examination through the National Testing Network by visiting the NTN website located here https://www.nationaltestingnetwork.com/publicsafetyjobs/search.cfm?position=1.
2. Test score must be submitted between January 1, 2023 and February 20, 2023. A NTN exam taken within the previous twelve (12) months may be submitted within this time period.
3. Complete the Personnel History Questionnaire and the Public Safety Self – Assessment (PSSA) provided by the National Testing Network.
4. Ensure you complete a Physical Agility Test and obtain a POWER Card dated no more than six (6) months from the time of taking the NTN Frontline National examination. (Dated no earlier than 8/20/22)
5. Upload the following required documents to NTN: 

• Copy of Driver's License
• POWER Test Card
• Birth Certificate
• High School Diploma
• Written request for preference points if you qualify
• DD214 (if applicable)
• Official Copy of College Transcripts

All documents must be received for application to be considered complete by March 2, 2023.
