Position Details

The Streator Police Department is Currently Hiring for the Position of Police Officer.

Applications from Lateral Transfer Candidates and Entry Level Candidates are being accepted.

The City of Streator is looking for dedicated Men and Women that want to make a difference in this community by protecting life and property; prevent, detect, and investigate crimes; and protect the rights of all persons.

Police Officer Minimum Requirements:

• High School Diploma or equivalent (GED)* * The Police and Fire Board reserves the right to determine the sufficiency of the high school diploma or its equivalent
• United States Citizen -Valid Driver's License
• Must be between the years of 21-35 at time of Appointment
• Must be in excellent physical health
• Candidates must have a valid POWER Test Certification Card issued at time of completing the Written Exam.
• Character: Must have no felony convictions and be of good moral character as specified in Illinois Statute 65 ILCS 5/10-2.1-6.
• Residence: Must establish residence within 15 miles of the corporate limits of the City of Streator within the 12 months of probationary period.
• Military Service (if applicable): Must provide proof of Honorable Discharge or membership in National Guard or Reserves. 

Phases of the selection process for Entry Level Candidates include:

• Written Examination
• A valid POWER Test Certification. Proof of Certification must be provided.
• Oral interview
• Background check
• Polygraph and Psychological Assessments
• Medical Examination
